Sangoma / SwitchVox Unified Communications
The Switchvox phone system is a Sangoma solution that uses Unified Communications (UC), a platform containing many different modes of communication integrated into one space with various features. The Call Centre features are essentially a system whereby all incoming calls are handled most efficiently.
The most complex feature is the auto-attendant that virtually acts as a receptionist and distributes calls to the appropriate agent based on the reason of the call. For example, if a caller wanted to speak to the finances department, they would say keywords or press the digit corresponding with their query. Their call would automatically be transferred to the most suitable extension. Other notable features include the call queues. Generally, customers call the main office phone and wait in a long queue until their call is handled.
However, with intelligent call queuing, these calls can be transferred to available agents, be notified on how long the duration of their wait will be, and play the pre-chosen music as they wait.
- Switchvox also has several integrations available on the platform, which are software that can be added onto the interface and used in addition to the existing UC features:
- For example, Zendesk is a software used for employees to interact with clients by instant messaging, live chatting, or even calling them to assist them with any queries or provide knowledge on specific topics. In turn, prospective customers are more inclined to get involved with an infectious and transparent business, increasing revenue.
- Other notable integrations include Microsoft 365, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
- These platforms increase productivity, encourage collaborations amongst colleagues, and are ideal for free and instant communication like voice calling or messaging.
- The Switchvox interface, called Switchboard, combines all communication features onto one accessible platform. Here calls can be managed by making calls, receiving calls, or directing calls to other extensions.
- Additionally, advanced features can be used by superior members of staff so that current calls are monitored in case the employee is not confident or there is a problem with the customers.
- For example, call recording and listening allow other agents to hear a call, whilst call whispering allows them to speak to the agent without the caller hearing. Call barge allows them to intercept the call entirely and hear both parties.

Sangoma Phone Systems Hosted PBX
A Hosted PBX (Private Branch Exchange) is essentially a phone system based on the cloud, requiring the internet to work and allowing employees to use the system remotely. Sangoma currently has two plans for the Switchvox Cloud: Metered and Unlimited.
The Metered plan is priced at £9.75 per month per user. However, this is for a three-year-long contract and varies. The plan may be costlier if you are looking for a shorter contract or paying monthly. It is targeted at small businesses that do not need to make or receive as many calls, as businesses are charged based on the duration of calls they make. This is the cheapest plan available.
Alternatively, the Unlimited plan ranges from £20 per month per user to £13.50 per month per user, depending on how many users a business will have for a three-year contract. For example, businesses with up to twenty users will pay the most, whilst those with over one hundred will pay the least.
This plan is designed with larger businesses in mind, as calling rates are cheaper; however, the plan is more expensive, accommodating companies that receive a large influx of calls.
Sangoma Phone Systems IP Phones
Sangoma produced D-series phones used specifically for VoIP technology and compatible with the solutions above. This is important, as traditional office desk phones require an Analog Telephone Adaptor (ADA) to connect to the internet. At the moment, there are four available IP phones, with a ranging budget and a different number of lines available, depending on the individual needs.
Sangoma – To Conclude
In conclusion, Sangoma offers a variety of VoIP solutions for businesses to benefit from. The Switchvox UC is a platform that manages calls whilst combining an array of advanced features, and the Hosted PBX with VoIP is an ideal phone system.
