Ebico’s partnership with Robin Hood Energy in March 2017 was widely welcomed at its announcement. Ebico is registered as a social enterprise and is run as a not-for-profit means that they were much better suited to collaborate with Robin Hood energy than their old supply partner SSE plc. Ebico said in a statement at the time of the partnership’s announcement that “we wanted to ensure our supply partners share the same values as us; something Robin Hood Energy does in its mission to provide its customers with a low-cost energy”.
However, Ebico’s social good doesn’t just come from its low prices. The Ebico Trust is also a key driver in the organisation’s push and more sustainable energy. The Ebico Trust’s is from the financial services of Ebico Living and Ebico Innovation.
Technically, a registered charity of its own accord was officially set up in 2008. Its primary role is to make charitable grants available to the research funded. This research is often directed at the various impacts of the zero-carbon transition on affordability. This line of investigation is essential as there is no doubt that the transition to a more sustainable way of life will be difficult for the global economy.
If it is not handled well and understood correctly, it could leave many people behind and put many people in the UK into energy poverty. As of 2021, the Ebico trust had delivered its impressive £2 million worth of funding commitments.
